Internationally Trained Professionals (ITP) are adult English language learners who already have a degree or professional credentials from their home country. The ITP program helps them use their existing skills, education, or credentials to access U.S. career opportunities, certifications, or further training.

Participants in the ITP program:

  • Are adults who have earned degrees, diplomas, or certifications outside the U.S.

  • English Language Learners who need support with English for professional or workplace settings.

  • Want to:
    • Advance or reenter their existing profession, or
    • Move into a new middle-skill job aligned with their credentials or experience.

In the ITP program, students may receive:

  • English language instruction tailored for professionals and workplace contexts (specialized vocabulary, speaking, writing).

  • Credential evaluation (to translate or verify foreign credentials for U.S. standards) is needed for their career path.

  • Support navigating U.S. job/education systems: resume preparation, interview skills, professional networking, and career counseling.

  • Pathways into Integrated Education & Training (IET) or IELCE (if required), which ties English learning with career skills training or workplace preparation.
